Robots That Vacuum and Mop
Robots that vacuum and mop provide the convenience of cleaning dry debris (dust dirt) and wet messes (spills, staining) in one time without the need to switch out devices. They can also save space compared to two separate units, particularly in smaller living spaces.
A good combination bot will offer excellent navigation and obstacle avoidance. Look for models that automatically empty their bin, refill their water tank and machine-wash their mopping pads from an appropriate dock.
1. Eufy S1 Pro
It's one of the easiest robots to set up that we've ever tested. Unpacking the S1 Pro is simple, and the quick-start guide will get you up and running with a clean and complete dust bag, a hard floor solution and water tank in a matter of minutes.
The S1 Pro is a powerful little machine that is able to clean up a storm and vacuums well too. The mops spin at high speed and use 2.2 pounds (1kg of force) to get rid of pet hair, dirt and sticky dried spills. The vacuum comes with four power modes, a range of brushes and attachments and a user-friendly app that lets you select the type of cleaning you'd like to have for each room.
For instance, you could decide to let the robot clean up the living and kitchen but take it easy in the spare bedroom. The S1 Pro's front colision sensors and its smart navigation technology are excellent too, with the robot being capable of detecting small obstacles that other models struggle with. Its only drawback is that it tends to hit objects and walls at full speed - but a quick glance at the cleaning history in the app tells you exactly what it's doing and where it's headed and the obstacles it's run into or avoided.
The docking station comes with a handy LCD screen that indicates the need for maintenance for cleaning up debris and rinsing the water tank that is dirty. It can also mix detergent automatically into the water tank with a 600ml bottle of eufy's own solution.
Both the S1 Pro mop and vacuum come with a long-running time. The mop can run for 184 minutes in Quiet Mode and the vacuum can run for 136 minutes in standard mode, before needing recharging or returning to the base. You can also view the entire cleaning information in the app, which is clearly laid out and easily understood however we would have liked to be able to distinguish between a vacuum only or mop clean, when looking at a cleaned area in the cleaning history.
2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra
The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is the latest version of the company's most popular robot mop and vacuum. The model this year has a double agitator built into its mopping pad. This increases the carpet cleaning capabilities of this model. The S8 Pro Ultra also has an improved suction capacity, allowing it to pick up fine hairs and other debris that other robotic cleaners could overlook.
As with the other two Roborock models I've tried it also has a 3D obstacle avoidance and infrared technology that can help to avoid furniture, walls and other obstacles. But the S8 Pro Ultra takes things an extra step by incorporating a dual camera that can recognize objects and determine whether they're an object that is a wall or a different surface. It can then automatically change its direction and clean them without missing a beat.
It's the most expensive of the three models I've reviewed, but it's also loaded with features. Its sleek and angular design is eye-catching and it only has three physical buttons: the power button, which can also restart cleaning; a mop button that doubles as a child lock; and a home button to send the robot back to its dock. The hinged lid can be opened to reveal a 350ml dustbin as well as a 200ml of water tank. The water tank automatically emptys and the bin fills up automatically.
The only downside I found to this model was that the VibraRise mop pads mount is not removable. It is possible to replace the mopping cloth if required, but it's not easy to remove the mount to wash it manually. I've observed that any carpet that the robot crosses will come into contact with the rough Velcro like fastener on mount, which can cause abrasions.
The S8 Pro Ultra is equipped with a variety of smart features, including support for Google Home and Amazon Alexa. You can manage and set up these using the Roborock app which is also the home of its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app allows you to schedule cleanings and monitor battery life. You'll have to go through a few steps to enable voice control on this model. It's a shame considering how well-performing it is otherwise.
3. Dreame X40
The Dreame X40 is an industry-leading robot vacuum and mop equipped with incredible suction power, sophisticated mowing capabilities, and a variety of innovative features. Its intelligent design allows you to customize and efficiently clean while reducing time.
The X40 is the first robot vacuum cleaner to provide 12,000 Pascals of cleaning power, which easily makes it one of the top options available. This powerful vacuum can clean up the dry mess, which includes pet hair and food particles. It comes with a mop of high quality that cleans hard floors without the use of a pad. The X40 is also extremely quiet when in operation and only occasionally bursting during mode changes or self-maintenance.
Another standout feature is the X40's expandable and liftable side brushes, that allows it to reach difficult-to-access corners as well as clean furniture, such as tables and chairs' legs. It also lets the robot to access low-profile furniture making it an ideal option for apartments or condominiums with small spaces. The side brush also automatically lowers itself when it spots wet spots, which is a nice addition that assists the X40 avoid damaging floors with the frequent back-and-forth movement.
Unlike other robots, which are limited to a single task, the X40 can vacuum and mop simultaneously. It can also be programmed to skip areas with carpet and mop only hard floors, or reverse the process. It can be controlled using the Dreame app or by using Alexa, Siri, and Google Home to ensure a smooth voice-controlled operation.
The app is user-friendly and simple to use, and the X40's smart features are simple to install. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times, adjust suction power and mode, look at mapping and floor plans, and manage mopping settings. The X40 will also track its progress, and alert you when it's done.
The X40 is easy to maintain and has numerous features that make it an excellent choice for busy families. robotic hoovers docking station automatically empties the dustbin into a large 3.2 L bin, washes mop pads and refills them with fresh water and cleaning solution. It also can detect when the mop pad is filled and notify you before it gets overflowing, reducing the necessity for manual maintenance.
4. L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a high-end robot that's among the most expensive available and comes with many additional features that make it stand out. Smart DuoScrub is a brand new feature in its mop heads, makes use of two high-speed mop heads to scrub floors more thoroughly. It also has a suction force of 7,000Pa. This is more than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra and Ecovacs Deebots T20 Omni. It can also remove pet hair, small dirt particles and remove spills and soiled spots.
The mop mops are cleaned and dried in the base station each time they are used. This feature is great as it keeps mould and unpleasant odours from accumulating in the storage. It also makes the mop system more efficient. This is a feature we haven't seen before on other robot mop and vacuum models. It could be a great method to keep your home cleaner longer.
There are plenty of choices, including the possibility to schedule cleaning times and adjust preferences. The app lets you set these preferences or you can make use of the buttons on the device itself. The app is simple to use and provides a variety of options for customising the cleaning routine. Additionally, there are a lot of features that other robots do not include, for instance, the Clean Genius mode that automatically increases suction power whenever it detects dust particles rather than using the manual setting.
The L20 Ultra has a stylish design with a metallic-white-white finish that looks sophisticated and classy. It's heavier than the other two-in-one robots in this list - at 4kg - but it's not obscenely heavy either, and it feels sturdy and well-built. The mopping is also well-designed and the double-rotating mop works well on hard floors as well as in corners. The MopExtend feature lets them reach up to 2mm below baseboards.
